Bellam Garelu Recipe


1 ½ cup Black gram dal
1 ½ cup Jaggery
1 tsp Cardamom powder
5-6 tbsp Oil
Salt to taste


    1.Soak the dal in 2 cup of water for 2-3 hours.
    2.Drain and grind the dal into paste. Add the salt and beat well the batter.
    3.In a pan heat 2 cup of water, add the jaggery, cardamom powder and boil until the jaggery melt s and the syrup is stick to touch. Set aside the syrup.
    4.In a banana leaf, pour 1 tbsp of batter and shape like a vada with hole in the center.
    5.Heat oil in a pan, slide the vada in the oil and fry both sides until turns to golden brown in color.
    6.Put the fried vada in the syrup to soak jaggery.
